The Sculpture for the Humanities exhibition is a display of the submitted models for the juried sculpture competition organized by the Institute for the Humanities. The final judging of the competition coincided with the exhibition, and the winning entry was chosen to become a permanent outdoor sculpture located outside of Stevenson Hall on the UIC campus. The sculpture selection committee consisted of Dennis Kowalski, associate professor of Art and Design, Ronald Legon, associate dean of the graduate college, and David Sokol, professor of History of Architecture and Art. The judges for the competition were Sokol, Judith Kirshner, curator of the Terra Museum of American Art, and a local public sculptor.
