ABOUT THE EVENT
How do you hack your wardrobe to make it fully celebrate the intersection of all of your identities? In partnership with the UIC Art Education Department, this workshop explores the idea of Radical Visibility, a Disabled Queer dress reform movement based on highlighting the parts of us that society typically shuns. Sky Cubacub will lead interactive draping demos using a no-sew method of designing your own closets to promote creativity and imagination. Audiences will play Cubacub’s surrealist Garment Generator Game to brainstorm drawing up new designs.
By centering joy and identities, this workshop amplifies the message that disabled queers deserve accommodations not just in terms of mobility but also in expression and the right to be seen.
ACCESS INFORMATION: This program is free and CART captioning will be available. For questions and access accommodations, email gallery400engagement@gmail.com.
