Maria Marshall When

Maria Marshall (born 1966) layers corrupt adult behavior onto assumed innocence of childhood, revealing the childish desires which support "mature" culture. New Works is her first exhibition in Chicago, featuring two of Marshall's videos: Once Up On and When I Grow Up I Want to Be a Cooker. Accompanying the videos are a series of six rarely exhibited cibachrome photographs titled This game goes on forever till it falls off. She currently lives and works in London, and is represented by Team Gallery in New York. She received a BA from the Wimbledon College of Art, London, and later studied sculpture at the Chelsea College of Art and Design, London, and the École des Beaux-Arts, Geneva.
