Hot Media is an experiment in collective curation. It is also a forum to stimulate interdisciplinary dialogue on art/media topics relevant to many across the UIC campus and beyond. Thirdly, it aims to extend themes of Gallery 400 exhibitions beyond the Gallery doors. Hot Media curates and presents programs consisting of moving image works, interactive arts, visual arts, music, performance, scholarly talks, and you name what else. It's an informal yet engaging opportunity to hear, see, and discuss with like-minded culture enthusiasts.
For our second session, we are expanding the program. We will screen moving image works, curated by the Hot Media Series Committee, host four guest presentations, and offer other new surprises. Everything you see, hear, and touch will tackle the overarching themes of inter-species communication, anthropomorphism, and how art works within this exchange. These are themes which correspond to, and extend from, Alex Halsted and David Moré's new exhibition at Gallery 400, Gnathonemus Petersii.
