In Eun Hyung Kim’s (born 1977) dense floor-to-ceiling wall drawings, drawing-covered paper objects, and animated video, myriad black and white cartoon scenes collide. Simplified figures, often reduced to a head or face, populate allegorical tableaus of tumult, connection, confrontation, and fantasy.
Eun Hyung Kim has participated in numerous shows internationally, including in Chicago, New York, Paris, Helsinki, Cologne, Tokyo, and Seoul. He has had several solo exhibitions at Gaia Gallery in Seoul, South Korea. Born in Seoul, he is now based in New York City. Kim has MFA degrees from School of the Art Institute of Chicago (2008) and Seoul National University (2006). He also attended the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture (2007).
